Hi! I am Laura Schreiber, and I teach second grade at Olive Township Elementary in New Carlisle, Indiana. It was always my dream to one day become a teacher, and I am happily living my dream! I am in my twelfth year of teaching and I love every minute of it. Though legislation, demographics, and policy may change, one thing remains the same, and that is the need for quality educators to help our younger generations become successful learners and citizens. I am always learning and I feel blessed to step into my classroom and work with our amazing kiddos every day!
I was a New Prairie grad myself in 2000 and then continued my education and earned my teaching degree from Indiana University in 2008. I began working at Rolling Prairie Elementary in 2009, and moved to Olive in 2010. I have taught K, 1, 2, 3, and 4, but I feel I have found my home in second grade. I am proud to be a Tiger and hope to continue the long-standing tradition of excellence for many years to come!
In 2013 I married my husband, Ryan, who retired from the Air Force last year. We have one dog, named Nikita. She is a german shepherd mix and was adopted from Michiana Humane Society. We welcomed our first child, Avery, in December, 2015. In February, 2018 we had our second daughter, Emery. Coming in January 2021 is baby girl #3!
I truly believe that it takes a village to raise a child. I welcome collaboration with our families and community and cherish the relationships I have built through this profession. I love my students as my own, and with that comes positive expectations. I want my classroom to foster creativity, independence, respect, and fun! Every day is a new challenge, but we are always working to achieve a culture of excellence, as is the long-standing tradition of the New Prairie United School Corporation. I welcome you into our classroom, and look forward to another exciting year in second grade! :)
